The healthcare industry is one of the growth factors in the Berlin-Brandenburg region. Even today, the value created in this sector compared to Berlin’s economy as a whole is 13% and it employs 220,000 people.
In Marzahn-Hellersdorf the healthcare industry is the second largest employer as well. To support and expand its existing potential, the healthcare industry project funded by the EU and the federal government has brought added value and cooperation to Marzahn-Hellersdorf and Berlin.
The project’s purpose is to provide a platform for exchange to those players in the healthcare industry who have already decided to set up business in Marzahn-Hellersdorf and to encourage networking in the district’s health care industry.
This is because Marzahn-Hellersdorf is a good location for the healthcare sector due to various factors, such as the prestigious service and medical device companies that are based here, the hospitals, including the Trauma Hospital Berlin and Vivantes or even the health-oriented education and training centres at the Alice Salomon University and the vocational student centre known as Gesundheit II; this project should extend these benefits even further. At the same time, of course, the attractiveness of our location will be marketed to enable further business setups here. Our communication and cooperation with other Berlin districts, which are actively involved in the healthcare sector, is another component of this project.
